Hoaxers

Full-length experimental percussion-based rock opera / 3f, 3m

Jerry is a man of secrets. His marriage is faltering, his health is declining, and he is a lifelong hoaxer of paranormal phenomena: crop circles, hauntings, Sasquatch. As his adopted daughter Jenny approaches the end of adolescence, as her family begins to unravel, her father takes her under her wing as a protege in the underworld of creative dissembling. Together they plan and execute his final masterpiece. Hoaxers is a play about the heartache and mystery of familial love, and the absurd beauty of belief.

Original music by John Colpitts. Commissioned and developed by Portland Center Stage, Chris Coleman, Artistic Director. Artwork by Ryan Bennedetti.
